Today's Scripture: Isaiah 25:6 (NKJV)
“And in this mountain The LORD of hosts will make for all people A feast of choice pieces, A feast of wines on the lees, Of fat things full of marrow, Of well-refined wines on the lees.”
What a glorious promise! Through the prophet Isaiah, God reveals a magnificent feast that He Himself will prepare for His redeemed people. But this is no ordinary banquet. It is a prophetic picture of the fullness of God's salvation, the abundance of His grace, and the everlasting joy of dwelling in His presence.
Isaiah speaks of choice foods and the finest wines, imagery that represents the richness and completeness of God's provision. The feast is prepared on God's holy mountain, pointing to His promised kingdom and the fulfillment of His redemptive purposes. And notice the invitation is extended to all peoples, revealing that God's plan of salvation reaches beyond Israel to people of every nation.
But the greatest blessing of this feast is not the abundance on the table. It is the presence of the Lord Himself! Isaiah continues in verse 8, declaring that God will swallow up death forever and wipe away tears from every face. What a wonderful promise! A day is coming when sorrow, suffering, sin, and death will be no more, and God's redeemed people will rejoice in His salvation forever.
Yet there is something important we must understand: Not everyone who hears the invitation will enter the feast.
Jesus illustrates this truth in Matthew 22:1–14 through the parable of a king who prepares a wedding feast for his son. Many who were invited refused to come. The king then extended the invitation to others, filling the wedding hall with guests. But when the king entered, he found a man without a wedding garment and ordered him removed. Jesus concluded, “For many are called, but few are chosen.” (Matthew 22:14, NKJV)
What a sobering reminder! The invitation is gracious and far-reaching, but merely hearing it does not guarantee entrance. The wedding garment reminds us that we must be properly clothed before God—not in our own goodness or religious accomplishments, but in the righteousness that comes through faith in Jesus Christ (Philippians 3:9).
We must be found in Christ! He is the heavenly Bridegroom, the One through whom God's promised feast becomes our eternal inheritance. No amount of religious activity, good works, or outward association with Christianity can substitute for genuine faith in Him.
So here is a question worth considering today: Am I truly trusting in Jesus Christ alone for my salvation, or am I assuming that knowing about Him is the same as belonging to Him?
And now comes the wonderful news! The feast is prepared, the invitation is extended, and the Savior still calls sinners to Himself. No one who sincerely comes to Christ in faith will be turned away!
Jesus gave this invitation:
“I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.” — John 6:35
What a joyous invitation! Come to Christ, the Bread of Life! Come and receive the salvation that only He can give. Come and find the satisfaction this world can never provide. For all who are in Him, a glorious feast awaits, and the greatest joy will be dwelling forever in the presence of the Savior who loved us and gave Himself for us!
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for preparing such a glorious future for Your redeemed people. Thank You for extending Your gracious invitation through Jesus Christ. Search my heart and keep me from trusting in anything other than His righteousness and finished work for my salvation. Fill me with joy in Your promises and a burden to invite others to come to Christ while the invitation remains open. In Jesus' name, Amen.
